SCS Forest Products (SCSFP) has released two new products for 2009 – the SCS Transverse Planer Meter and the SCS Bar Code Integration System. The introduction of these new products, in combination with SCSFP's existing suite of moisture measurement products allows for mill wide moisture measurement, quality control, and inventory management. SCSFP's combined product offering can now collect, analyze, and integrate moisture measurement and lumber package data at each stage of the process insuring maximum yield and profitability. Most mills realize a payback of less than 6 months.

SAWMILL
MC PRO 1500 Transverse Sorter
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION - Using an electromagnetic field, the MC PRO 1500 takes multiple moisture/density measurements per board, calculates an average "dry-ability" index number and passes the to the sorter PLC. In addition to the recent Temperature Sensing upgrade, a weight system (NEW!) is now available as an upgrade for frozen wood applications. Over 100 installations have been completed in North America and Australia.
KILN
MC PRO 2000 In-Kiln Meter PRODUCT DESCRIPTION - The MC PRO 2000 uses a low-voltage electric field to calculate moisture content an multiple points in lumber packages as they dry and passes that information to the kiln controller. Real-time moisture collection replaces "hot checking". Mills using this technology report reducing over-drying while increasing productivity. Over 150 installations have been completed in N. America.
PLANER
MC PRO 2400 Transverse Planer Meter - NEW!
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION - The MC PRO 2400 in a non-contact meter that uses digital pulse technology to take multiple moisture readings in a transverse method at rapid line speeds. The meter is configurable to the planer in-feed or out-feed line, with the primary application being a "drop-out" system.
MC PRO 2500 In-Line Planer Meter
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION - The MC PRO 2500 is a non-contact meter that takes multiple measurements in a linear method, giving it the ability to detect sudden changes in moisture content at high board speeds. Typically this meter is installed after the planer as a quality control tool. Over 100 installations have been completed in North America and Australia.
BAR CODE INTEGRATION
MC PRO TRAC BAR CODE INTEGRATION SYSTEM - NEW!
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION - The MC PRO TRAC system networks and integrates all moisture measurement data and tracks lumber packages using a bar code. Lumber packages are scanned at the sawmill, kiln, and planer to provide real-time reports showing the number of packages by stock, the green/dry/dressed state of those packages and the associated kiln charge and planer moisture histograms. Users can interact with the system to run shift, charge, inventory, and quality reports. Kiln re-creation reports give a visual look at each package in a kiln charge and the resulting moisture content and standard deviation.
