SCS Transverse Sawmill Meter
In 2011, we introduced the MC Pro 1500 NC (non-contact). The system replaces the contact system that was in use for over 10 years. The MC Pro 1500 NC is still used in the sawmill to pre-sort green lumber for kiln drying. The system uses non-contact sensors below the wood to measure moisture and density to determine a dryability index number. Results are passed to the sorter so that wet or dry boards are aggregated for optimized kiln charges.

Strength Sorting System
Precigrader is used in the sawmill to pre-sort green lumber for kiln drying based on strength rating. The system uses vibration measurements (resonance frequencies) to establish a strength grade. Results are passed to the sorter so that similar boards are aggregated for optimized kiln charges.

MC PRO 2020
SCS Forest Products is pleased to announce the launch of KilnScout, an innovative wireless in-kiln moisture meter developed for both continuous and batch lumber dry kilns to maximize production and minimize variation.
"Before KilnScout, in-kiln moisture meters were fixed to the kiln, and let's face it, yesterday's technology. This go-anywhere solution hunts out moisture related problems anywhere in your mill."
Transverse Planer Meter
Using innovative digital pulse technology, the MC Pro 2400 takes multiple measurements of a board as it passes over its non-contact sensors. Sensors are arranged in a transverse configuration along the length of the board to measure final moisture content and identify wet spots for either drop-out or trim decisions.
"Since acquiring the MC Pro 2000 system we have gone from the stone age to the 21st century as far as drying techniques."
-Cliff Mullin, Vice President of Potomac Supply Corp.
In-Line Planer Meter
The MC Pro 2500 automatically measures and reports moisture content in the planer mill using high-speed digital pulse technology. The non-contact sensor, configured linearly, measures moisture content, board temperature and vertical movement, assuring unsurpassed accuracy.

Strength Grading System
Precigrader is an acoustic on-line strength grading system. The system is installed in over 150 mills. It is used to determine common commercial grades in North America, including 1650 and 2100. A spring-loaded impact mechanism strikes the lumber as it passes. The resulting vibration is captured by microphones to determine the appropriate MSR grade.

The MC Pro Trac gathers real-time data from SCS Forest Products devices in the sawmill, kilns and planer. The software provides the industry’s most advanced run reports for process control and quality analysis which can dramatically reduce the time it takes to get feedback on production variables.
Bar code integration enables tracking from the sawmill to the planer with simple inventory and supply chain management solutions.
